Today I had the assessment about the minor scale. The test mostly about making minor scale of several scales and in the last part I need to write the meaning about the terminology words used in romantic music such as; staccato, da capo, allegro, etc. I am pretty confidence that I will pass the test and maybe got more than 6. I must finalized the slide presentation because I will present it next week.

Today I study more and just know about melodic and harmonic scale. It is very unfamiliar for me, because it is the first time I've heard this kind of word in minor scale. But today, I know that or harmonic I just need to rise the 7th note with half interval and for the melodic I just need to rise the 6th and 7th note half intervals each. I think I am ready for the assessment about the theories of minor scales that will be on the following weeks. I just need to learn more about the vocabulary in the sheet that distributed in last meeting.

For the first session we talk and discuss about a trip to go somewhere to have a . The art, music and drama department is about to make a trip. I hope it's not an overseas trip, because it could cost much for overseas trip. After that discussions each student are distributed a sheet of vocabulary words that are commonly used in romantic music. I will continue on my slide presentation about the romantic music.

Today we discuss more about the theories of minor scales because last semester I learnt more on Major scales, and for me minor scale is kind of unfamiliar. There are differences in the intervals between each note in the scale. I learn more about sharp and flat signs used in minor scales. There was not much time left for the instrument class, so I just have fun about practicing new songs. I think I will prepare about my slide presentation in the following day.

Today we were discussing about the upcoming assessment which is to make a groups slide presentation. The class were divided into groups of fours and threes, the slide presentation will be about what are the changes when classical music era finished and replaced by romantic music era. We need to include detail information such as; composers, style, instrument,etc. I don't think that this assessment will be hard for me because I have made a booklet about the music eras such as classical and romantic.

I had a holiday in 23rd of January, it is the Chinese New Year. Today is the assessment day, I am pretty nervous while the other sing and finish earlier than me. But I am pretty well prepared though for the assessment. I feel free after the assessment is done. After I'm done with the reflection sheet, there were no session left for instrument class.But I'm happy because I feel okay for the singing assessment.

Today I keep on practice to sing Indonesia Pusaka because I will do the assessment in the following week. The class checked individually, to find our vocal range, because each person have different vocal range. There's no much time left for instrument class, so I just practice a song with Mr John.

Monday, 16-1-2012

Today, the teacher tell me that I will have a first assessment, I need to sing a patriotic song called "Indonesia Pusaka". This song is very familiar for me because in my previous school we sang this song every week. I hope it will be a piece of cake for me because I have literally remember the whole lyrics. For the first practice I sing in trios in front of the class and the rehearsal goes well, I hope I could sing better when the assessment day comes. I need to sing alone for the assessment, this trio singing is just for practice.

Today is the first day for music in this new semester, the schedule has changed, now I have music every Monday and Friday. Before, I had music every Monday and Thursday. Because it is the first day after the semester break, the class talks about their holiday during the semester break and I recall some of the theory that I've learnt before.
